He blitzed the first 600 metres in 34.1 and stayed on, along the inside rail to win by a length over Takeden Tiger (French Deputy). The time (1.10.2) is the third best in the last 30 years, just six tenths of a second slower than the record set in 2013 by the filly Xmas (Bago), who clocked 1.09.6.

The Hakodate Nisai Stakes has failed to produce a Classic winner for a while, but Agnes World (Danzig), who won the race in 1997, became a top-class sprinter and had a couple of successful trips to Europe, snatching the G1 Prix de l’Abbaye at four and the G1 July Cup at five. Active Minoru is by Statue Of Liberty (Storm Cat), who spent five seasons in Japan and had 208 foals, before his permanent move to Australia, where he has produced the G1 winning sprinter Hay List and four other Group winners. Statue Of Liberty stands for $11,000 at Eliza Park International.

Active Minoru is the first foal out of Piena Amazon (Agnes Tachyon), who ran once at three, has a yearling colt by Asakusa King and foaled a filly by Victoire Pisa in April. The second dam, Royal Riff (Kingmambo), reached Japan following a $110,000 purchase at the 2005 Keeneland January sale. She produced three winners in her new country, topped by Meisho Dagda (Wild Rush), a triple Stakes winner on dirt. The female line is the same as G1 winners Thirty Six Red (Slew O’Gold) and Corrazona (El Gran Senor).

European Bloodstock News takes a look at the lightning quick Statue of Liberty 2YO, Active Minoru. Active Minoru (Statue Of Liberty) became the first Group winner of the 2012 …

[1

post-10313","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
