Statue of Liberty might have been off the scene for two seasons but the Eliza Park stallion hasn\u2019t missed a beat, with his first 2YO runner in 2012 producing a dynamic debut at Doomben yesterday.<\/div>\n
The striking, near black colt, Octane Flyer, is typical of Statue\u2019s stock, but matched the looks with performance over 1010m in the Jye Cooper Group 2YO Handicap, scoring by nearly two lengths.\n<\/p>\n

Trained by Kelly Schweida, Octane Flyer is out of the Grand Lodge mare Tahnee Tango and was sold for $100,000 at the Easter Yearling Sale.\n<\/p>\n

Previously shuttling from Japan, Statue of Liberty got caught up in the devastation wrought by EI and didn\u2019t travel to Australia in 2007 and 2008, but such is his popularity, the prolific Storm Cat entire has been a busy boy.\n<\/p>\n

Prior to Octane Flyer\u2019s Doomben romp, Statue of Liberty (below<\/i>) had been represented by 135 runners in the southern hemisphere (5.2% stakes winners to runners!), but there are 122 two year olds waiting in the wings.\n<\/p>\n

Octane Flyer might be the first to fly the flag from his flock, but he won\u2019t be the last.\n<\/p>\n
