{"id":4026,"date":"2011-05-16T23:24:00","date_gmt":"2011-05-16T23:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/archive.rockylhc.com\/2015\/elizapark\/?p=4026"},"modified":"2011-05-16T23:24:00","modified_gmt":"2011-05-16T23:24:00","slug":"gods-own-2yo-wins-by-a-bit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.rockylhc.com\/2015\/elizapark\/gods-own-2yo-wins-by-a-bit\/","title":{"rendered":"GOD\u2019S OWN 2YO WINS BY A BIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<p>Gutsy win by God\u2019s Own 2YO, Miss Holyfield, over 1207m at Kilmore on Saturday.<br \/>Trained by Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra and bred and owned by Essendon Mazda\u2019s Joe Cucuzza (<i>pictured<\/i> <i>left with trainer Peter Boynton<\/i>), Miss Holyfield is out of the Align mare, Lady Atlanta.<br \/>Miss Holyfield is one of the most inspired names for a racehorse \u2026 EVER.<br \/>You wouldn\u2019t have needed to put a penny in the plate on Sunday to work out how Holy(field) and God\u2019s Own go together, but that\u2019s not the end of it \u2026 not by a long stretch.<br \/>Miss Holyfield\u2019s dam, Lady Atlanta, is in turn a daughter of Flame of Atlanta and you may well remember that flame that lit the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games was carried at one stage by one of the city\u2019s favourite sons in Evander Holyfield.<br \/>But wait, there\u2019s more! A highly popular heavyweight boxing champion who won the title four times (the only boxer to do so), Holyfield won 44 times against the likes of George Foreman, Buster Douglas, Larry Holmes and, famously, Mike Tyson.<br \/>The first time they met, Holyfield knocked out Tyson in the 11th round and, in the rematch on 28 June 1997, Tyson bit off the top of Holyfield\u2019s ear and was disqualified.<br \/>Thing is, Miss Holyfield had part of her ear bitten off as a foal by another horse and so, the name was a natural.<br \/>Doesn\u2019t seem to have her hurt her though, given that she won at Kilmore with her \u2013 you guessed it \u2013 ear pricked!<br \/>And just to finish it all off, the second horse home was called \u2026 Apollo Creed.<br \/>For those of you who slept through the 70s, Apollo Creed was the fictional world boxing champ from Rocky I and II.
