{"id":4285,"date":"2010-08-04T00:57:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-04T00:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/archive.rockylhc.com\/2015\/elizapark\/?p=4285"},"modified":"2010-08-04T00:57:00","modified_gmt":"2010-08-04T00:57:00","slug":"clangalang-speed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.rockylhc.com\/2015\/elizapark\/clangalang-speed\/","title":{"rendered":"CLANGALANG SPEED"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<p>There appears to be a general perception \u2013 misconception as it turns out \u2013 that Clangalang\u2019s best performers are middle distance \u2026 staying types.<br \/>Sure, Geegees Blackflash won a Tasmanian Derby (2200m) this year, but his three city wins and two stakes placings prior to Group success ranged from 1100m to 1600m.<br \/>And yes, Reverberates was being hailed a classic contender before getting injured, but she too ran a class record over 1400m at Sandown.<br \/>Perhaps it\u2019s because <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.rockylhc.com\/2015\/elizapark\/stallions_clangalang_pedigree.html\">Clangalang<\/a> cornered his own slice of history by being the only horse to win both the AJC Derby (2400m)\/Epsom (1600m) double, leading to a belief that progeny would follow suit (it\u2019s worth remembering that Clangalang only finished a half length shy of Lonhro in the Group Two Warwick Stakes over 1400m, beating home Defier, Republic Lass, Half Hennessy, Excellerator etc.)<br \/>But, as the Mr Prospector line stallion has shown in recent days, his progeny are no strangers to fleetness.<br \/>Clangalang (<i>below<\/i>) farewelled 09\/10 with a resounding victory to Lexcen (ex. Blevic mare Ruby Tuesday) over 1200m on 31 July \u2013 his second win at Morphettville \u2013 while North Lad (ex. Centaine mare Centlee) absolutely crunched his Launceston rivals with a 5.5 length romp on the first day of the new season (1 August).<br \/>With most of the gallops abandoned around the country on 2 August, Clangalang duly complied with another winner on 3 August (Tuesday) when first crop daughter, Bush Music (ex.
