A two-year-old group winner at Royal Ascot, and a group one performing miler at three, Statue of Liberty has a peerless stallion pedigree. He is a son of the mighty Storm Cat, is half-brother to Champion and leading sire, Lemon Drop Kid, and is out of a three-parts-sister to Champion racehorse and sire A.P. Indy. He is already sire of 14 stakes winners, including the brilliant multiple Group One winner Hay List.
Statue of Liberty has already proved his potential with the Danzig line, siring Group Two winner Mic Mac out of a mare by Tertian, a son of Danzig; stakes winner Broadway Harmony out of a mare by Danzig son, Rokosz; and Singapore Group One winner In the Crown out of a mare by Danzig son Snadee. Obviously virtually any strain of Danzig is worthy of consideration here, but we can note that there are already 26 stakes winners on a Storm Cat cross with mares descending from Danzig through the Danehill, including from daughters of Flying Spur, Redoute’s Choice (sire of Snitzel, Stratum and Not A Single Doubt), Dansili, Catbird, Danzero, Magic of Sydney, Dane Friendly and Special Dane. Out of mares from the The Mr. Prospector line, Statue of Liberty is sire of two-year-old stakes winner Kolokol out of a mare by Hector Protector, a son of Woodman (also sire of Woodborough and Timber Country) and stakes winner Liberty Leader out of a mare by Umatilla (a son of Miswaki). Statue of Liberty is sire of Group stakes winner Dan Baroness out of a mare by Rubiton (by Century), and there are two other Group winners by Storm Cat out of Rubiton mares. There are also 12 Storm Cat line stakes winners from Century through Centaine, and Rubiton’s brother Euclase should also be considered. Mares by Bite the Bullet and Is It True (broodmare sire of Statue of Liberty’s brilliant son Hay List) will give linebreeding to Statue of Liberty’s family, as would bringing in daughters of Bernardini (by A.P. Indy, a three-quarters brother to the dam of Statue of Liberty). The Storm Cat line has also crossed successfully with In Reality through Relaunch (broodmare of a Statue of Liberty stakes winner, and available through Honour and Glory) and Valid Appeal (who can be brought in through Southern Appeal). Storm Cat has done well with Damascus, who can be found through Gilded Time and Salieri, and Success Express also appeals here. Out of a mare by Hurricane Sky, a grandson of Bletchingly (from the Star Kingdom line), Statue of Liberty sired Group Two winner Spirits Dance, and he also has stakes winner Elysees out of a mare by King’s High (by Full On Aces, from the Kaoru Star branch of Star Kingdom).
