      ANOTHER BIG WEEK FOR MAGNUS

The comfortable win by The Alfonso at Canterbury on Wednesday and Magnapal’s demolition job yesterday has capped another remarkable week for Eliza Park International’s highly promising stallion, Magnus.

The result for Chris Waller’s The Alfonso was never in doubt when the flashy colt loomed large at the business end and, based on his neck second in town at his previous outing, the 3YO has a promising future.

Terry & Karina O’Sullivan’s, Magnapal was no less impressive, racing away to score by six lengths over 1600m at Terang and with a prior city placing on his resume, it looks as if the chestnut could be heading back to town.

For Magnus, the cheques keep flowing with 18 of his last 22 runners since last Thursday finishing in the top four – seven of those grabbing the major prize.

Through the consistency of his progeny, their versatility (winning from 955m to 2100m in the past month) and ability to fly in all conditions, Magnus is becoming a real ‘trainers’ horse and his progeny are again likely to be eagerly sourced at 2014 sales.
