RIGHT ROYAL STRIKE RATE

The training partnership of David Brideoake and David Feek – along with a large ownership group – must have had their hearts in their mouths all the way down the Seymour straight yesterday before their first starter, Royal Trieste, finally drew level with Arizona Skies for a deadheat in the 2YO Fillies Maiden.

As a Classic winning miler by Danzig (albeit Group One placed over 1200m), few would anticipate Astronomer Royal producing juvenile winners in December, but Royal Trieste clearly has her share of ability.

At this stage, Astronomer Royal has only had 25 runners in Australia but Royal Trieste is now his 11th individual winner and, for that matter, has produced three wins from his last three starters.
