      STATUE'S RIGHT APPROACH

Statue of Liberty 3YO, Dawn Approach, might not be accomplished as his English Classic winning namesake, but the Perth sprinter took a stride in the right direction with a blistering win over 1100m at Ascot yesterday.

Trained by Vaughn Sigley, Dawn Approach led them up turning for home in the TABtouch.com.au Handicap, scoring comfortably on the wire for his first win in town, following on from four previous placings in seven career outings.

Dawn Approach is a half brother to the year older, Magnus sprinter, Fight To The Line who ran a good third to fellow Magnus, Miss Promiscuity, over 1200m at Flemington on Saturday. The lightly raced Fight To The Line is trained by Peter Moody and won at Moonee Valley in December, boasting a tally of three wins and two placings from six starts.

Both Dawn Approach and Fight To The Line are out of the 4-time winning Snippets mare, Delicate Snip, who now claims four winners from four to race.

Snippets mares are proving to be a dynamic match up with Eliza Park International sires … not only is he broodmare sire of the boom stallion, Wanted, and his highly flying stablemate, Magnus, his daughters have produced 9 winners from 11 starters by Bel Esprit (including Group One winner Bel Sprinter), one from one for Magnus (not forgetting the 11 winners – including two SWs – for Magnus’ sire Flying Spur), Statue of Liberty (below) (one winner and one placed from two) and Sharkbite (one from one).
