      ANOTHER TREBLE … BEL STYLE

Bel Esprit clearly likes to spread the wealth and picked up a tri-state haul on Thursday with victories to Gangnam Style (Bendigo), Nightingale Road (Northam) and Cleaver (Townsville).

I’m only guessing but what are the odds that a pub on the way home from Bendigo has the jukebox cranked right up, playing Gangnam Style to a happy mob of owners?

Gangnam Style was VERY impressive over the 1100m at Bendigo, going through them quicker than a dodgy Jjamppong, racing away to score by six lengths on the heavy surface.

Only unveiled for the first time in June – when a seriously unlucky second at Mornington – Gangnam Style really looked the goods over 1200m at Seymour on 5 July, winning with plenty of style despite … “jumping awkwardly”.

(Priceless – you reckon they didn’t enjoy using that term in the stewards’ report!).

So, three starts, two wins and a second. Nikki Burke looks to have a genuine up and comer in her yard.

Gangnam Style is out of Miduki – a multiple city winner and dam of Adelaide stakes winner Periduki (24 wins). Miduki meanwhile is by Snippets and the Bel Esprit/Snippets nick has now produced 13 to race for 11 winners, including Group One winner Bel Sprinter and another stakes winner in Vivacious Spirit.

      Op, op, op, op …

Nightingale Road is no slouch either and has now won her last three in succession.

The mare tended to mix her form before heading for a spell in March, but hasn’t missed a beat since resuming on 26 June, with all three scores coming at Northam.

Trainer Duane Kitchingman has obviously found the key and it wouldn’t surprise to the lightly raced 4YO back in town some time soon. Out of the Twig Moss mare, The Wrythe – a granddaughter of Group One VRC Oaks winner My Tristram’s Belle – Nightingale Road is a half sister to multiple Sydney winner Aultone.

And the lucky last was the evergreen Cleaver, who notched up his fifth win with a cool performance at Townsville under the cool riding of Glen Boss – yep, that Boss.

Trained by Terry Butts, Cleaver is out of the Straight Strike mare, Mill Lady, a multiple winner on both sides of the Tasman and hailing from the family of Group One winner, Sky Filou.
