      FOUR FOR MAGNUS

Prolific and increasingly versatile stallion, Magnus, finished the week in style with four winners on Friday and Saturday, including a brilliant second up effort from the stakes winner, Prettyhappyaboutit, who put the writing on the wall in a thriller at Moonee Valley.
Another of the weekend highlights was the debut performance from Peter Moody’s, Miss Promiscuity, who scored emphatically at Dunkeld and, from the manner of her win, is likely to be fast-tracked to the city.
Bred and raced by Rob Crabtree (along with his wife Sylvie and good mate, Craig Jamieson), Miss Promiscuity is out of the Distant Music mare, Zipstream, a city winning half sister to the Crabtree bred/raced stakes winners Amtrak and Furio.
Keeping it all in the family, Moody was also the trainer of Magnus, who guided the sprinter/sire throughout his glittering Group One career.
It could well have been five in the space of a day for Magnus with Magnifisio a good thing beaten in Perth on Saturday. Leading them throughout, the Jim Taylor flyer was just caught on the line and has been collared by short margins in two runs back and the Taylor camp will obviously hoping for a change of luck for their mare who now has five wins and five placings from just 12 outings.
With a dozen winners in the past month, Magnus is steadily climbing the charts and his progeny are again likely to be eagerly sought at the rapidly approaching 2014 sales.

Magnus stands at Eliza Park International in conjunction with Yallambee Stud.
