      NO SECRET ABOUT SOL

Another big day at the office for Statue of Liberty with a resounding double at Pakenham on Friday.

In a running deuce, Robbie Laing’s New York Rain and then Matt Laurie’s Secret Liberty were both very impressive in scoring over their 1008m assignments.

Robbie, in particular, was fairly effusive about the prospects for his grey filly, saying that she was right up to city class following her all the way victory in smartish time.

It was the second win from four outings for New York Rain who was having her first hit out since June.

New York Rain is out of the city winning Spectrum mare, Joyous Rain, from a stakes placed half sister to champion mare, Emancipation.

Winner of 19 and 7 G1s, Emancipation is the dam of G2 winner, Royal Pardon and granddam of G1 winners Virage de Fortune and Railings.

The future looks pretty bright for Secret Liberty too. Bred and raced by Lucky Racing (which may well live right up to the moniker), Secret Liberty was having her first start but word had obviously got around as she faced the starter a $2.30 favourite.

And she ran right up to the quote by leading at every post and scoring with four to spare.

This is really quite interesting breeding – and not just the fact she’s out of the 3-time SW and G1 placed, Matriculate, by Honor Grades. Statue of Liberty’s granddam, Lassie Dear, is also the dam of Weekend Surprise (by Secretariat), while Statue of Liberty’s sire, Storm Cat, is out of a Secretariat mare. Confused? That’s why we’ve added the pedigree grid.

One thing we’re not confused about though – Statue of Liberty is absolutely flying and in amongst the top 10 Australian Sires of 3YOs.
