BEL ESPRIT IS BUSY DOIN’ PLENTY

Yet another double for Victoria’s perennial champ with veteran performer, Busy Doin’ Nothin’, getting the money at Eagle Farm, while a very promising type in Afleet Esprit turned in win #1 at Geelong. Busy Doin’ Nothin’ has now won eight and the Harold Norman trained 7YO powered home over the 1200m the Farm in his first run since March. Busy Doin’ Nothin’ is out of the Bubble Gum Fellow mare, Sunday Bliss, who has three winners from as many to race including Busy’s full sister and Melbourne winner, Bon Marche. Meanwhile, David Hayes would have been clearly impressed with his 2YO, Afleet Express who hasn’t been sighted since finding trouble galore on debut at Moonee Valley in February. The freshen up has done the filly the world of good apparently as she sat just off the leader throughout at Geelong before fighting on for a big win over the 1200m. Hailing from the Danewin mare, Bonded, a classy 4-time winning sprinter for John Moloney, there’s plenty of speed in the family and expect to see more of this gal. As for Bel Esprit, he’s now a clear second on the Australian Sires’ premiership by winners and remains one of the marvels of the Victorian breeding industry.
